This is a community campaign from Kells, Co. Meath — the town that gave the Book of Kells its name. We believe the Book of Kells was written and created in Kells. It was taken away. It simply needs to be returned home. Not a loan.

We are not asking for a loan. We are asking why a book we believe was written and created in this town is still kept in Dublin. The people who took the glory need to answer that. It belongs home.

MadeInKells.com is the campaign’s public home — the story, the history, the news, and a way to get involved. It is run by people who live this place, for people who love it.

Scholarship still debates Iona versus Kells (and a shared scriptorium). Our campaign holds that the Book was written and created here. That belief sits beside the debate — it does not invent a settled academic verdict.

What this site is: the town’s case for a homecoming, a visit guide that says where the original is and where it belongs, news, a separate satire section, and practical ways to help. What it is not: a claim that a return has been agreed, or a request for a seasonal loan while the glory stays in Dublin.
