Works on the R147 Dublin Road in Navan are in their final stages, with the contractor finishing the Martha's Bridge to Circular Road Cycle and Pedestrian Scheme over the coming weeks, the Meath Chronicle reported on 17 October.

Meath County Council says most of the carriageway resurfacing is complete, including several phases of night-time work. New footpaths, cycle tracks, drainage, public lighting, bus stops, traffic signal upgrades and landscaping have been substantially progressed.

What remains is outstanding footpath and cycleway work, road markings and signage, landscaping, benches, cycle parking and bins, final surfacing tie-ins at some locations, and testing of traffic signals and public lighting. Some short-term disruption is still expected, and temporary bus stops may be used where needed.

"By and large the R147 has returned to normal service," said Cllr Eddie Fennessy.

The scheme, funded by the National Transport Authority, delivers just over 1 km of segregated cycle lanes on the R147 in Navan. The works are confined to that Navan stretch. The R147 also continues from Navan to Kells, but none of the reports mentions any works on that section.

Reported as of 17 October 2026.
